Andre Hines

The Artist Behind the painting

A Bit About Me

North Chicago, was the start of the creative process...As an only child Andre used art as a way to entertain himself during quiet times. When his higher educational journey began. Architecture was his point of interest and when that didn't meet his desire for artistic of expression. He changed paths, venturing into the corporate sector. The desire to paint never left him, and he continued painting but mainly for friends. In 1991, while painting for a community project. He landed an opportunity with the Bruce Brown Jazz and Art Showcase. Envisioning the possibility of even more work and greater opportunities on the horizon. The young artist began studying graphic design at the Art Institute of Chicago and completed with a BA from the Art Institute of Las Vegas. He also studied his craft at Airbrush Action magazine's "Get Away Workshops", a steppingstone to greater artistic opportunities and connections.

When the Chicago native relocated to Las Vegas in 2003, his art quickly took root and he created “Forever Tapping” a tribute to the late Gregory Hines which debuted at the Gregory Hines Golf Benefit and Fundraiser. He was then invited to be the featured artist for the Trumpet Awards, where he was showcased with the likes of artistic greats like Annie Lee and Albert Fennell. A versatile artist able to design for a variety of genres.

Las Vegas became a great place to help in the creative process. Which allowed him to be the featured artist for Las Vegas in 2006 as his art toured the libraries of Las Vegas. He has painted at the Air Brush Action Magazines Artist Getaways all the way to custom Harley motorcycles art Alley Rat Customs. Including Las Vegas very own First Friday events which showcased his canvas pieces and Custom Wine Bottles. Where his passion for design and visual quest leads to the quote, “If it holds paint, I paint on it” Andre’s Mission is to showcase and bring to a small glimpse to the world seen through the Eyes of a Man of Color. Showing the layers of Black Art and its layers woven together ideas and tradition of African American Culture.  Helping plant a seed of growth for Black Art across societies viewpoint of the storyboard.

With a keen eye for detail, his heartfelt depiction of the late Gregory Hines was the first in the Vintage Soul Series of amazing pieces. Followed by Ray Charles, Whitney Houston, Luther and Michael Jackson. Whether inspired by music, nature or his life experiences, Andre's talent shines through all of his work. Spending 8 years as the graphic designer for the late Annie Lee. The humble artist gives great thanks to the famed artist whom he calls, 'a God-sent friend with powerful wisdom and kindness to help and direct him on the path when I need it'.

Andre takes nothing but Gives All the glory to God for his talents.
